Known to many as Richard Branson’s mum, Eve is a social entrepreneur who has worked tirelessly to help empower young people and their families in the villages that surround Kasbah Tamadot through the Eve Branson Foundation.
In 2015 Eve Branson received a Royal Wissam – with the rank of officer – granted to her by HM King Mohammed VI, in recognition of her humanitarian actions in Morocco. The Royal Wissam, Morocco’s highest distinction, was presented by Morocco’s Ambassador to the UK Lalla Joumala during a special ceremony in London.

Situated in the spectacular Atlas Mountains in Morocco, the award-winning Kasbah Tamadot is a magical retreat owned by Sir Richard Branson – he originally bought it during one of his famous ballooning expeditions on the condition that Eve would help support the local Berber people living in the more remote surrounding villages.
Kasbah Tamadot employs over 90% local staff, figures suggesting that each individual employed at the hotel supports up to 10 other individuals in their extended family. They work closely alongside the Eve Branson Foundation to improve living standards in the communities around the property and provide office space for the Eve Branson Foundation.
We’d love to support all of the activities and initiatives we hear about, but we’re keen to focus our efforts on a specific set of projects that relate to the communities in Morocco, located within a region of the Atlas Mountains – about an hour’s drive from Marrakech, find out more about our work. We appreciate all you’re doing to make the world a better place and we wish you every success.
The Berbers are indigenous to this region of North Africa.
We aren’t currently able to process payments for products through our website but if you complete the product enquiry form on Boutique Shop page, we can help fulfil orders for a range of handmade gifts from our centres. This page shows a selection of our latest products and price guide. The unit price doesn’t include shipping and taxes.
We also fulfil orders for company events and corporate merchandise. Every purchase goes back to the artisan and helps us to continue operating our core programmes in the region.
We are incredibly lucky that Virgin Limited Edition provide us with office space at Kasbah Tamadot and cover our office overheads such as wi-fi and phone lines.
Donations are used to fund core programmes such as our three craft houses which provide much needed training and job opportunities for local young people, they are also used to develop new initiatives such as our latest seed project providing scholarship funds to promising female students.
Your donations enable our small team of four people alongside our Board of Trustees to continue to work in this region of Morocco. Thank you!
The Eve Branson Foundation is lucky enough to be a grantee of Virgin Unite, the Virgin Group’s charitable arm. Virgin Unite’s mission is to connect people and entrepreneurial ideas to make positive change happen, driving business as a force for good. Find our more information here.
