Berber rug-making
The Eve Branson Foundation operates craft programmes in the valley surrounding the small market town of Asni, a gateway to the High Atlas Mountains. Each centre focuses on teaching a different traditional artisan skill including weaving, woodworking, rug-making and embroidery.
The centres provide people from the local community with the training, tools and space to learn and share new skills. Women practice the ancient art of rug-knotting and flat-weaving on hand-built looms, teaching the next generation the traditions of Berber crafts.
If you’re a guest at Kasbah Tamadot or just visiting the area you can purchase products made at our craft centres directly from the EBF Shop adjacent to Kasbah Tamadot on Route d'Imlil in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains – a wonderful space selling contemporary artisan items. Next door is the Berber Boutique, a treasure trove of traditional Moroccan carpets and antiquities.
